Liberation + Loss
For a long time I was not sure what to call this project. The other day I saw the words, Transformation = Liberation + Loss and the light bulb clicked on. I began this series as an experiment. It was something to do, a way to meet new people and learn from one of my favorite people. Over a year ago I began attending Wine Wednesdays at my fellow artist and friend's studio. Located on Charlotte Pike in Nashville, Cindy Wunsch's space, Studio Be became my little home away from away home. What began as an experiment of showcasing my photos in a new way turned into a new passion.
Through these mixed media pieces I have manifested a life long dream, living at the beach. It didn't begin that way. I discovered that I wanted to create art full time. The beach discovery only came this year as I said goodbye to my mom. After living in Nashville, Tennessee for all my life I will be calling the Florida panhandle home soon. It is scary and exciting: a journey that I must pursue. I truly feel so liberated!
Large scale mixed media canvas pieces incorporating original photography by me, paint, found objects, paper with a coating of resin.
